Fewer issues have caused more concern and anxiety to constituents in Glasgow South than the Chancellor of the Exchequer's proposals to cut tax credits.
In this constituency alone, those cuts would have affected over 5000 local families.
Along with my colleagues in the SNP Westminster group I have spoken out and voted against this policy at every opportunity.
So it is extremely welcome news that he has bowed to unprecedented pressure from Members of Parliament, charities and civic society and announced in today's Autumn Statement that he will not be making the cuts.
