Stop Press Intrusion into Grief

A diverse and independent media is vital to sustaining a flourishing democracy. When the Leveson Report was published, the Scottish Government stressed its commitment to the principles it outlined.

The Scottish Government remain committed to ensuring the practices that led to the inquiry do not happen again and the press should remain fully aware of their responsibilities to ensure that the cultural and ethical failings do not take place that can lead to improper press intrusion.

The SNP has been clear that all individuals should have the ability to seek redress when they feel they have been the victim of press malpractice.

The SNP Scottish Government will continue to engage with the Scottish press and other stakeholders on regulation.
