Please stop the automatic release of a dangerous killer

You will be aware that Scotland’s legal system is separate and distinct and that both policing and sentencing are devolved matters. As an SNP MP it would not be for me to involve myself in this English criminal case.

In Scotland, the SNP Scottish Government have been clear that violence against women is a fundamental violation of human rights and is totally unacceptable.

The Scottish Government are implementing ‘Equally Safe’, Scotland’s strategy for preventing and eradicating violence against women and girls. This strategy sets out a vision to prevent violence from occurring in the first place, build the capability and capacity of support services, and strengthen the justice response to victims and perpetrators.

A Taskforce has also been established to lead the development of Scotland’s first national multi-agency Domestic Homicide Review model.

The aim of the Scottish Domestic Homicide Review model is to learn lessons to help prevent and reduce homicides related to domestic abuse and give a voice to those who have been killed.
