Southside MP praises local church's WWI tribute

Stewart McDonald MP has paid tribute to parishioners at Carmunock Parish Church after it was decorated with a sea of poppies to remember those those who fought and died in the First World War.

Parishioners at Carmunnock Parish Church stitched together over 9,000 knitted poppies, which have covered the historic church - a feat which took eight months to complete.

This years Remembrance Day, on November 11, marks 100 years since the end of World War I, and the display honours all those involved in the conflict between 1914 and 1918.

Stewart McDonald, MP for Glasgow South and SNP Spokesperson, for Defence said:

"This is a wonderful tribute to all those who bravely fought in World War I, which is particularly poignant given this year marks 100 years since the end of the conflict.

"I cannot commend Carmunock Parish Church, and the parishioners, highly enough for this touching tribute, and thank them for this contribution to the community."
