Following discussions I have had with the landlord of the Braes Shopping Centre, where the Job Centre is based, they have said they are willing to discuss a rent reduction with the DWP which would allow them to save money and retain the service.

I have now written to the Minister for Employmemt, Damian Hinds MP, and asked for his department to engage in meaningful discussions with the centre managers so that an agreeable solution can be found.

I have asked that Castlemilk be suspended from the programme of planned closures at least until these talks have concluded.

I am currently awaiting details of the Langside Job Centre leasehold and will do all I can to retain that service also.
