MP praises Glasgow school celebrating big lottery win

An SNP MP has praised St Margaret Mary’s Secondary School after they received £10,000 worth of funding from Big Lottery Fund.

Stewart McDonald, MP for Glasgow South, has written to the school, in Glasgow Southside, to congratulate them on the funding they have received as part of Big Lottery Fund Scotland and sportscotland’s Awards for All Scotland programme.

St Margaret Mary’s project is aimed at getting pupils (particularly girls) more physically active by enhancing the trampoline club equipment, purchasing two new cross trainers, and providing extra-curricular coaching in netball, dance, acrobatics, rowing, football and cheerleading.

Commenting, Stewart McDonald said:

“I was delighted to hear the St Margaret Mary’s was one of only a handful of groups across the whole of Scotland that were successful in receiving a bumper grant from the Lottery.

“Everyone at the school can now look forward to a fabulous summer of sport and games, which will bring local people together, help people learn, and get people more active.

“I congratulate the school on their funding, wish them every success with their project and I extend my thanks to Big Lottery Fund Scotland for recognising the valuable contribution the school makes to the Southside of Glasgow. St Margaret Mary’s have done themselves and Glasgow South proud.”
