Local MP welcomes bank's commitment to the Southside
Stewart McDonald, MP for Glasgow South, has welcomed Santander bank's decision to keep their Shawlands branch open.
The bank's branch at 110 Kilmarnock Road is the only branch in Glasgow South. Santander confirmed their decision to stay, which will be communicated to customers over the coming weeks.
Stewart McDonald MP said:
"It is very welcome news that Santander have opted to keep their branch in Shawlands open, which otherwise would've seen many customers travelling several miles to access banking services.
"Following the closure of other banks in the local area, I am delighted that Santander will be here to serve the community going forward.
"It is vital that businesses and local residents have access to normal banking services and this decision ensures that for many of my constituents."
