Don't Let Key Workplace Protections Get Ripped Up

The SNP completely reject the Retained EU Law Bill and are fighting to have the Bill scrapped.

The Scottish Parliament voted in December 2022 to reject legislative consent to this Bill.

The Bill is reckless, and this is highlighted most by the fact that the UK Government doesn't even know how many retained EU laws will be impacted by its measures. Meanwhile media reports quote that over 4,000 laws are at risk.

At Westminster my SNP MP colleague Brendan O’Hara has led efforts in seeking to amend and this Bill. He tabled multiple amendments, seeking to protect devolved powers and the decisions of the Scottish Parliament; protect workers’ rights; and to protect our environment and nature.

The SNP have voted on all occasions against the Bill as we don’t believe it’s fit for purpose and is an insult to democracy.

We are currently experiencing an all-out assault on workers’ rights under this Tory government. The proposed Anti-Strike legislation, coupled with this Brexit bill will severely undermine workers’ protections and rights. This is totally unacceptable.

My SNP colleagues and I will continue to reject this Brexit Bill and vote against it.
