Stewart McDonald MP, and SNP Spokesperson for Defence, has written to the Chief Constable of the Ministry of Defence Police Force, urging him to reconsider the new shift patters for MoD police officers.
The move towards two early, two-night, four day off shifts is being driven by new MOD Police Chief Constable Andy Adams who says he wants a ‘specific pattern’ across the force.
Stewart McDonald said:
"Important infrastructure around the U.K. is protected by the men and women of the Defence Police Force, and the MoD continue to offer disruptive work patterns and poor pay systems."
"This is not just bad for workforce morale, but dangerous for us all given the job they do."
