MP praises constituency athlete selected for Winter Paralympic Games

Stewart McDonald, MP for Glasgow South, has praised local constituent, Angie Malone, who has been selected to represent Paralympics GB in Wheelchair Curling at the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Paralympic Games.

Angie will go the Games in March this year, and the team will compete at the Gangeung Curling Centre in Pyeongchang, which is the venue where the same group claimed a bronze medal for Scotland at the 2017 Wheelchair Curling World Championships.

Commenting, Stewart McDonald said;

“I am thrilled for Angie. The Paralympics are among the world’s greatest events, and she, and all Paralympic athletes, are truly remarkable role models.

“Her commitment, dedication, self-discipline and passion are truly inspirational, and her appearance at PyeongChang just adds to her truly remarkable career as the country’s most decorated Paralympic curler after also winning a silver medal at Turin in 2006.

“I wish Angie, the whole team, and all the Paralympians, every success at this year’s games.”
