Ahead of today’s emergency debate in the House of Commons, Glasgow South MP Stewart McDonald condemns the massacre of civilians in Aleppo by government forces loyal to President Assad.
“Words cannot express the horror and disgust that civilised people will feel with regards to the criminal massacre of 82 innocent civilians in stricken Aleppo. The reports from the UN of the indiscriminate killing of men, women and children by the forces of President Assad are truly harrowing.”
“The Assad regime has abandoned any semblance of humanity as it adds the extrajudicial shooting of women and children to the litany of war crimes it has inflicted upon innocent civilian populations.”
“Bodies are left lying on the streets as family are unable to retrieve their lost because of overwhelming bombardment from the air and the threat of indiscriminate shooting on the ground.”
