Calls for Prime Minister to investigate Wagner Group war crimes

At Prime Minister’s Questions, Stewart McDonald MP raised the important issue of the Wagner group’s international war crimes following it’s encroach on Russia. He highlighted to the chamber the extent that the Wagner Group’s activities had reached prior to its latest movement.
Commenting on the situation, Stewart McDonald MP said:
“After the events in Russia at the weekend, it is unclear what the future holds for the Wagner Group, but the catalogue of crimes it has committed across Africa and the middle east and, of course, in Ukraine can never be washed away. Despite all that, the Government do not yet have a permanent Cabinet Office official to co-ordinate all the organs of Government to pursue the criminals in the Wagner Group.”
He then went on to ask:
“Will the Prime Minister appoint one and, crucially, will he fund the collection of evidence of Wagner Group war crimes that have been committed across the world, so that no matter what happens, these criminals can be brought to justice in future?”
The Prime Minister responded to say that the Government had “consistently condemned the Wagner Group” and was working to continue monitoring their actions in Ukraine and the wider world. He did not commit to the creation of a cabinet office role dedicated to monitoring and taking action on the Group. Sanctions and condemnations alone are not enough, and efforts must go beyond this to ensure that justice is secured.
