First Bus Glasgow urged to reinstate night buses

First Bus' decision to end the night bus service in Glasgow has been met by resistance from Southside MP, Stewart McDonald, who has urged the company to reverse the decision.

Glasgow’s main bus operator announced it will end its night services in the city. The change, due to come into force at the end of the month, will impact 11 routes that operate across the city in the early hours of Saturday and Sunday mornings.

Stewart McDonald, MP for Glasgow South, has written to First Bus conveying dismay at the decision to end the night bus service in Glasgow and called on the company to reverse the decision.

Commenting, the Glasgow South MP said:

"The night service is relied on by many across Glasgow, from workers on the night shift to people travelling home from a night out.

"Without it, many will have to pay more for transportation, and it may even present a risk to people’s safety.

"This is a deeply regrettable decision that First Bus must reconsider, and reinstate the night bus."
